In March 2026, two Rhode Island senators reached out to The Climate and Development Lab to assist in their efforts proposing a climate superfund bill to the legislative floor. Our team was tasked with estimating the retrospective costs of climate change to the state of Rhode Island between the years 2000-2025. Below is a report of our findings from this initial data scoping exercise. The appendices are a collection of our research notes, organized to provide future researchers with additional sources of data.
